🎓 Everybody’s Doin’ It: The freshmen from ChatGPT’s first year are about to be seniors, and students aren’t the only ones graduating. AI has gone from being a clever personal sidekick to a major player in institutional arenas, quietly rewriting the rules and raising eyebrows. Unsurprisingly, “integrity” arrives as the core idea in contention, as both generators and receivers of AI content can’t seem to agree on its use. From academia to fair use, below are a few examples:

  •  Senioritis: Nearly 90% of surveyed college kids were already using ChatGPT for homework help in January 2023, and educators who self-identify as frequent AI users has also nearly doubled from 18% last year. Professors complain about pulling all-nighters grading AI slop, while students refute that AI course material is hypocritical and a waste of tuition.

  • Deadbots, Roll Out: BBC Maestro launched a writing course taught by an AI version of Agatha Christie, while an Arizona courtroom welcomed an AI rendering of a murder victim delivering a forgiveness statement. Don’t worry - you’re not alone if you feel this is “unsettling”.

  • Training Tensions: The U.S. Copyright Office has asserted that while certain uses of copyrighted content in generative AI may be deemed “transformative,” the broad, commercial scraping of such material likely falls outside the bounds of fair use. As the debate intensifies, AI's data diet may soon come with a legal price tag.

🎭 Beep Boop: You know when two friends are text flirting and you’re helping both of them craft their messages? Well, with both sides of the classroom now using AI (and courtrooms inevitably following suit), experts are worrying that institutionalized evaluations may be devolving into bot-to-bot interactions that teach us little more than how to use ChatGPT. Consensus maintains that AI will likely stay, nonetheless getting to our version of the matrix is a tightrope walk that everyone’s still figuring out.

The update signals a broader push to position Airbnb as a full-service travel platform. The company also previewed plans for more social and AI-driven features aimed at helping users “connect travelers,” suggesting its ambitions now extend well beyond just providing a place to sleep.
