🎥 Veo-ry Nice: Google has been showcasing its prowess with its Veo models over the past year, and the latest iteration – Veo 3 – has been in the hands of users for the past couple of weeks**.** Since then, AI artists and filmmakers have been on a frenzy to show off more and more shockingly realistic (and perhaps a little unsettling) videos - you’ve all seen the emotional support kangaroo. Some claim this to be the “end of reality” as we know it.

🌱 Staying Real: Unlike OpenAI's video generator Sora, released more widely last December, Google DeepMind's Veo 3 can include dialogue, soundtracks and sound effects. The AI engine abides by real-world physics, offers accurate lip-syncing, rarely breaks continuity and generates people with lifelike human features, including five fingers per hand. As evident in the videos shared by Google and users online, the telltale signs of synthetic content can be made mostly absent.

🥸 We're So Cooked: Misinformation experts have been warning for years that we will eventually reach a point where it's impossible for the average person to tell the difference between an AI video and the real thing. With Veo 3, we have officially stepped out of the uncanny valley and into a new era, one where AI videos are a fact of life… and it’s only going to get better…

Headlines on Digital Marketing, AI, and More

🤝 Growth and Fears: As AI barrels into the workforce, Anthropic doubles down on safety and ethics—with Netflix’sReed Hastings now on board, citing their “big focus on safety and ethics”. CEO Dario Amodei isn’t mincing words, warning that AI could spark “a dramatic spike in unemployment”. Case in point: tools like Auxia can now write, research, and generate reports—tasks once reserved for entry-level hires. If AI’s the new intern, HR better start updating the org chart.

🧑‍🍼 Old Meets New: The New York Times just inked its first-ever AI licensing deal with Amazon, handing over editorial content to feed Alexa and train AI models. It’s a headline-worthy shift for one of journalism’s last AI holdouts—choosing Bezos over OpenAI, a move that says more about trust than tech. As consumption habits morph faster than a trending TikTok, even legacy media is learning: if you can’t beat the bots, syndicate them.

🍷 French M.ai.d: Mistral AI, creator of LeChat, is a key European player positioned to challenge OpenAI, releasing a new API for building AI agents. However, despite a significant $6 billion valuation and poaching 5 of Llama AI’s 14-creator team, its global market share remains "relatively low." Mistral's future hinges on scaling its models and LeChat to genuinely compete—proving that in the AI world, even a French unicorn needs more than just a hefty price tag to actually conquer the globe.
